sleeping

I always have a hard time waking up in the morning. I have alarm clocks in the bedroom. I have them set about 15-30 minutes and the alarms are set about 15 minutes apart. The alarms will be going off for at least an hour before I finally wake up. I do not have a problem going to sleep, usually I fall asleep right away. It seems like I am always in the deep sleep mode, all night long. Your main problem is that of excessive daytime sleepiness. This is a very common problem that is due to a number of causes, the most common of which is just plain lack of sufficient hours of sleep. If you obtain the recommended 7.5 to 8 hours of sleep daily, you should have no problem.

In general, treatment of daytime sleepiness involves finding out the underlying cause. Some of the more common causes of persistent daytime sleepiness are sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless legs syndrome, and a condition called delayed sleep phase syndrome. Sleep apnea is characterized by loud snoring and frequent breathing pauses during sleep. Narcolepsy is a condition that is caused by the inability of the brain to regulate the sleep-wake cycle normally. People with restless legs syndrome have an irresistible urge to move their legs at night and during inactivity. In the delayed sleep phase syndrome, the timing of the biological clock becomes out of sync with the desired sleep and wake hours. People with this condition typically are young and have a hard time falling asleep before midnight and waking up in the morning. There are specific treatments available for these conditions that are very effective. It is important that the problem of daytime sleepiness be evaluated since it decreases quality of life and work productivity, and predisposes affected individuals to accidents at work and while driving. It would help if you can avoid sleep deprivation by obtaining adequate hours of sleep. Further information about circadian rhythms, sleep disorders or sleep itself can be found at the American Academy of Sleep Medicine website.

kredit kard

The temptation to acquire too many credit cards can lead to losing track of payment details and deadlines. This can be disastrous and can also lead to a false sense of security where customers continually transfer accounts to new services with lower interest. This rotating form of interest, if not properly disciplined and controlled, can lead to balooning payments when late payments occur. When this happens, the interest rate on even the lowest credit card can suddenly explode. Difficulty with understanding the fine print as relating to various fees and charges which may not be initially obvious. It is important to understand how the interest rates on credit card charges is calculated and it is particularly important to keep up with payments. Depending on the credit card company, it is possible that falling behind with payments will result in an interest charge on all future charges regardless of whether or not you settle your bill during the grace period and by the normal deadline. And last but not the least, you have to think that before using a credit card, it is not your money you are spending but other money, which in due time you need to return [plus interest!], which in turn you have to wait in line at the bank to pay. The time will also come that when you need to pay for the purchases that you made that you have no more money allocated for this payment, gosh. So IMHO it is better to purchase or buy stuff with cash...

DArk KNight

The movie "The Dark Knight" gave justice to what the movie just offered us - great movie of substance, best Superhero movie so far. The guys at WB and DC are making a fortune out of this film. Their other superhero franchises should follow suit. Adding to the success of the movie is the death of Heath Ledger? There is a bit of an intrigue about the last movie of Mr. Ledger. Good film at nice story plot, good cinematography and effects. Heath ledger will be missed and his Portrayal of the joker is a classic. DC stories are closer to reality, with little added exaggerations, but Marvel characters are mostly fantasy and sci-fi. Batman is a real person with skills. He doesn't have super natural abilities so no special effects with added dark nature which makes it monochromatic. Dark Knight is best but it can't be compared with Iron Man, Hulk and even Hellboy because of different flavors. I think DC can pull another one after the Dark Knight - Justice League??? As I know there are four batman comics - batman & robin, detective comics, batman JLA and dark knight. DC was the best, it was like those pulp hardboiled stories with drawing what was soon to be followed, the dark shadows that soon the dark knight series took up. detective comics had no supernatural beings, no superpower nemesis, had foes like gangsters, organized crime or ordinary everyday crooks. It is this batman that I love, an ordinary mortal who bled and used wits to subdue his enemies like a modern day urban odysseus. DC batman story lines had pedigree which no other comic book heroes, DC or Marvel, had. It was classy despite its gritty urban crime nature. The thing I like in marvel is that no one was able to figure out to catch the guy with purple pants....

NBA FANTASY LEAGUE

NBA fantasy is a game that includes and involves NBA knowledge or love and interest for the NBA. The most popular fantasy game is the "Fantasy Commissioner". You start by creating a team, drafting NBA players, then you play within a created league with friends. The whole season your goal is to draft 15 players for your roster and add or drop different players in order to make your team better. The better your players perform in their scheduled games, the better your fantasy team is. You always need to keep track of injuries, players playing bad, and those that get on a streak during the season. In the leagues, you face other teams head-to-head and keep a record for your roster throughout the season. At the end of the regular season, the top four teams of your league will face each other in playoffs and one will end up winning the fantasy league!

Leagues can comprise anywhere from 6-10 teams, each owned by an individual. During the season, you try to analyze for better players and draft or add or drop those who you think will get your team better stats. The game is all dependent on the performance of NBA players you choose, and the better picks you have, the better your fantasy team will be.

MRT congestion versus traffic

The government’s plan to buy more trains stemmed from commuter congestion at MRT 3 stations as a result of higher fuel prices and record-high inflation. Costlier fuel and food have forced many, including car owners, to use trains and other public vehicles to save on expenses. The situation [procurement of more trains] is a matter of public interest, public concern, and it is dangerous already [given the passenger congestion]. The government will buy [the trains] if they will not acquire additional trains. The government intends to buy 73 light-rail cars with three minutes headway or four-car trains with 2.5 minutes headway, which cost $3 million each. We are ready [to buy] but it will take another three years if you will order a new car from the time you order and to the time of delivery. We are looking at second-hand cars. At present, MRT 3 uses three-car trains with three minutes headway. The additional trains are expected to be delivered by 2009 and will be operational by 2010. MRT 3 has exceeded its daily passenger capacity. The railway line is designed to carry only about 22,500 passengers per peak hour per direction, but that existing demand has ballooned to 26,500 passengers. The maximum load of 22,500 was breached in 2004. Emergency capacity expansion is needed to meet the projected per peak-hour demand of 30,031 passengers by 2010. MRT 3 was built to speed up the commute and alleviate chronic traffic congestion along EDSA. But the current capacity of the railway line is inadequate to meet the first goal, let alone the second. The line’s tracks run almost the entire stretch of the avenue. Currently, MRT 3 has a fleet of 73 Czech-made air-conditioned cars, of which up to 60 three-car trains operate daily. The trains run at a top speed of 65 kilometers per hour to cover 13 stations in about 30 minutes, stopping for 25 seconds to 35 seconds per station. The government plans to expand the North Avenue station to prevent passenger congestion there. The station is the northernmost in the MRT 3 line. The government plans to spend P100 million to acquire a 500-square meter land beside the North Avenue station and put a two-story building there. To decongest its stations during peak hours, MRTA has decided to extend operations between 6:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. At present, the peak hours are between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., during which 20 three-car trains leave every three minutes. At the North Avenue station, the busiest station during the 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. rush-hour period, about 23,000 to 25,000 passengers climbed onboard going south. The system uses 15 three-car trains that roll on every five minutes. The maintenance operator of MRT 3 has granted the request of the government to extend the peak-hour period and for the operator to deploy additional trains at no cost. The government is also studying deployment of additional trains beyond the peak hours to ease overcrowding in the stations. With a daily ridership of at least 470,000, the government pays at least P19.74 million a day at the minimum fare of P10 per person. MRT 3 collects an average of P4 million to P5 million a day.
